Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT)

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) to support surveying and engineering teams in the planning and execution of land development and infrastructure projects. This role offers hands-on experience in both field and office work, with opportunities to grow toward Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with field survey operations, including data collection, measurements, and site reconnaissance
  • Support boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA/NSPS surveys
  • Process and analyze survey data using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D)
  • Prepare plats, maps, legal descriptions, and survey drawings
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and survey crews to ensure accurate project execution
  • Maintain survey equipment and ensure data quality and accuracy
  • Assist with construction staking and layout as needed
  • Support project documentation and ensure compliance with local, state, and client requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • LSIT certification (or ability to obtain shortly)
  • Familiarity with survey principles, GPS, total stations, and data collectors
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both in the field and in an office environment
