Position Overview
Hiring a Principal Engineer to lead technical delivery and/or client relationships in the Raleigh/Charlotte market. This person will represent the firm externally, lead project teams, and mentor engineers. Role can be aligned to Technical Leadership or Client Leadership, depending on strengths.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership
- Serve as a primary client contact across NC.
- Lead project meetings and industry engagement.
- Support BD in K‑12, commercial, and institutional markets.
Technical & Project Leadership
- Oversee structural design for education, commercial, and institutional buildings.
- Provide high‑level technical review and QA/QC.
- Lead projects from concept to completion.
- Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers.
- Use Revit, RAM, RISA, and similar platforms.
Team & Culture
- Contribute to a collaborative, development‑focused culture.
- Support long‑term planning as the NC workload grows.
Qualifications
Required:
- BS/MS in Civil or Structural Engineering
- PE (SE preferred)
- 10-15+ years structural building experience
- Proven project and client leadership
- Strong communication skills
Preferred:
- Existing NC client relationships (K‑12, higher ed, commercial, data centers)
- Background with strong structural firms
- Ability to step into leadership quickly
