Project Engineer
Position Overview:
A well-established regional civil engineering firm is seeking a Project Engineer with a focus in land development to join its growing team in Salt Lake City. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of residential, commercial, and mixed-use development projects across the region. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for delivering high-quality civil design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning, design, and execution of land development projects from concept through construction.
- Prepare site layout, grading, drainage, utility, and roadway plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, stormwater management design, and erosion control planning.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Assist in preparing construction documents, cost estimates, and permitting packages.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and design standards.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical support to project managers and senior engineers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 3-6 years of experience in civil site design and land development.
- EIT certification required; PE license in Utah or ability to obtain within 12 months preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of site grading, stormwater design, and utility layout.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with local municipalities and permitting processes in Utah.
- Familiarity with hydrology software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HydroCAD).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest in mentoring junior staff and contributing to team development.
