Rail & Transit Facilities Design Manager

LVI are currently partnered with a leading engineering consultancy is hiring a Senior Transit Facility Design Engineer to support the strategic growth of its Transit Group. This role is positioned for future advancement into regional or senior leadership as the team expands nationally. The successful candidate will help shape next-generation transit infrastructure, focusing on the planning and design of bus and rail maintenance facilities, optimizing equipment layouts, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-impact projects across the U.S.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of transit infrastructure, focusing on the planning and design of vehicle maintenance facilities for bus and rail operations. This includes optimizing equipment layouts, improving operational workflows, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-impact projects across the country

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the delivery of design services, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget alignment.
  • Analyze transit operations to enhance facility efficiency and functionality.
  • Develop and refine equipment layouts in collaboration with client stakeholders.
  • Coordinate facility design with architectural and engineering teams, including utility and spatial requirements.
  • Prepare construction documentation and technical specifications for transit equipment.
  • Review submittals and provide expert guidance during construction phases.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in planning, design, cost estimation, and risk assessment.
  • Represent the firm in client engagements, project scoping, proposal development, and presentations.
  • Support regional business development and contribute to strategic growth initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 14+ years of progressive experience in transit facility planning, design, and implementation.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
  • Deep understanding of transit vehicle operations and facility standards.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe/Bluebeam, AutoCAD and/or BIM; MicroStation experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and site visits.
  • Collaborative mindset and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
