Senior Geo-structural engineer
We are seeking a Senior Geostructural Engineer to join our Boston-based team. This role is ideal for a technically strong, self-motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about solving challenging underground and foundation engineering problems.
You will lead and contribute to the design and analysis of complex geostructural systems, including deep foundations, excavation support, retaining structures, and soil-structure interaction. You'll also play a key role in mentoring junior staff, managing project deliverables, and engaging with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadgeostructural design and analysis for a variety of projects including:
- Deep foundations (drilled shafts, driven piles, micropiles)
- Earth retention systems (soldier piles and lagging, secant/tangent walls, soil nails)
- Excavation support and underpinning
- Tunnel and shaft support systems
- Perform advanced numerical modeling (e.g., finite element or finite difference analysis) for soil-structure interaction and ground deformation.
- Oversee and interpret geotechnical investigations, laboratory testing, and instrumentation programs.
- Prepare and review technical reports, design drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Provide construction-phase engineering support and field observation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, civil, and materials engineers.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Support business development through proposal writing and client engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geostructural or geotechnical engineering.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and structural behavior.
- Proficiency ingeotechnical and structural analysis software such as:
- PLAXIS, FLAC, LPILE, GROUP, Settle3, or similar
- Structural tools like RISA, SAP2000, or STAAD
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with seismic design and performance-based engineering.
- Familiarity with construction practices and field engineering.
- Active participation in professional organizations (e.g., ASCE, DFI, Geo-Institute).
