Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead, evaluate, and design mechanical systems for a variety of projects ranging from new construction and design-build developments to renovations and upgrades of existing facilities. This individual will provide technical leadership, support project teams throughout the design process, and assist in resolving engineering challenges during construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual mechanical system designs for a wide range of projects.
- Serve as the lead mechanical design professional during project meetings and coordination efforts.
- Prepare preliminary design layouts and redline markups to support estimating and project planning.
- Perform engineering calculations including heating and cooling load analysis, equipment sizing, duct and pipe sizing, friction loss calculations, and hydraulic calculations.
- Conduct site visits and field inspections to verify compliance with construction documents and resolve design-related issues.
- Mentor and oversee junior engineers and designers in the development of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related building systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 8+ years of mechanical design experience, including project leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of building systems design, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Ability to review and interpret complex mechanical and plumbing construction documents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, project teams, and stakeholders.
- Strong presentation and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with CADD software and Microsoft Office applications.
