A well-established general contractor based in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Senior Construction Project Manager to lead complex water infrastructure projects across East Tennessee. This position is ideal for a PM who can take full ownership of projects from preconstruction through closeout, with experience delivering underground utilities, pump stations, lift stations, and water/wastewater treatment facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of water and wastewater construction projects, including WTP/WWTPs, pump stations, lift stations, force mains, and underground utility scopes
- Manage all project financials, including budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, pay applications, and cost-to-complete reporting
- Develop and maintain project schedules; partner closely with field leadership to drive production and resolve issues
- Oversee subcontractor procurement and buyout, scope definition, contract negotiations, and change management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, inspectors, and internal stakeholders
- Lead and mentor project staff (PMs, APMs, and Project Engineers) and contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery processes
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience as a Project Manager with a general contractor or heavy civil contractor
- Direct experience with one or more of the following:
- Underground utilities / large-diameter pipe
- Pump stations and lift stations
- Water or wastewater treatment plant construction or upgrades
- Strong understanding of project controls, including cost management, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and change orders
- Experience managing projects in the $10M+ range
- Ability to collaborate effectively with field teams and operate in a fast-paced construction environment
Preferred Experience
- Design-Build or CMAR project delivery
- Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar construction management software
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
