Senior Structural Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in San Francisco. The ideal candidate will be a California-licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a strong background in structural design, analysis, and project management across a variety of building types and infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex engineering projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead structural engineering design and analysis for commercial, residential, institutional, and mixed-use buildings.
- Prepare detailed construction documents including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Perform seismic analysis and design in compliance with California Building Code and ASCE 7 standards.
- Conduct site inspections and structural assessments for new and existing structures.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure design intent and project goals are met.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Review and approve shop drawings and submittals.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Active California PE license.
- 8-10 years of professional experience in structural engineering.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Structural System, and RISA.
- Strong understanding of seismic design principles and performance-based design.
- Experience with steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures.
- Familiarity with local permitting processes and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with high-rise and mid-rise buildings in seismic zones.
- Knowledge of sustainability and LEED principles in structural design.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and Revit Structure.
- Prior experience in design-build or integrated project delivery (IPD) environments.
