Job Overview:

A leading firm in heavy civil construction is seeking an experienced and highly organized Site Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day operations of construction sites. This role is responsible for managing field activities, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and in accordance with design specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, excellent leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and team coordination.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all on-site construction activities for heavy civil projects, including roadways, utilities, earthwork, and infrastructure.
  • Ensures compliance with project plans, specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Coordinates daily operations with subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain workflow and productivity.
  • Conducts regular site inspections to monitor progress, safety, and workmanship.
  • Maintains project schedules and works closely with project management to address delays or issues.
  • Manages site logistics, including equipment, materials, and workforce allocation.
  • Enforces safety protocols and conducts toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Maintains accurate daily reports, logs, and field documentation.
  • Collaborates with engineers, project managers, and inspectors to resolve field issues and implement design changes.
  • Reviews and approves work performed by subcontractors to ensure adherence to project requirements.
  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Identifies and mitigates potential risks or conflicts that may impact project delivery.
  • Supports the closeout process, including punch lists, inspections, and final documentation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage field crews and subcontractors effectively.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and digital reporting tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations.
