A leading renewable energy company is seeking a Solar Commissioning Engineer to join its growing team. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical precision, field operations, and clean energy innovation.
About the Role
As a Solar Commissioning Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring our commercial and utility-scale solar PV projects are fully tested, properly configured, and ready for long-term operation. You'll work closely with project managers and field teams to troubleshoot, document, and deliver high-performing solar assets.
Key Responsibilities
- 🔧 Configure and validate monitoring systems for new solar installations
- 📑 Review and approve electrical testing reports and commissioning documentation
- 🛠️ Provide remote and occasional on-site support for troubleshooting equipment and data systems
- 🤝 Coordinate with project and construction managers to schedule and execute commissioning activities
- 📈 Contribute to process improvements that enhance system performance and operational efficiency
What You Bring
Technical Skills:
- Experience with PV inverters, 3-phase metering, and industrial communications (RS-485, CAT5/6, fiber)
- Familiarity with PV monitoring platforms and data acquisition systems
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and evaluate test results
- Skilled in remote diagnostics and guiding field personnel
Education & Experience:
- Technical diploma or bachelor's degree in electricity, electronics, or a related field
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA standards, and LOTO procedures
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Personal Attributes:
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with a safety-first mindset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and open to continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AlsoEnergy PowerTrack or similar monitoring platforms
- Electrician license (Journeyman or higher), NABCEP certification, or NETA training
- OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E training
- Familiarity with Procore or other construction management tools
- Hands-on experience with testing tools like multimeters, I-V curve tracers, and megohmmeters
Work Environment
This is primarily a remote role, with occasional travel to project sites. Fieldwork may involve:
- Working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Wearing PPE and working around high-voltage equipment
- Climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 lbs
