A well-established environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Staff Environmental Scientist to support a growing hazardous materials and industrial hygiene practice throughout Southern California.

Responsibilities
- Conduct asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and lead-based paint surveys.
- Perform hazardous materials assessments and building inspections.
- Provide abatement monitoring and field oversight during remediation activities.
- Support industrial hygiene investigations and evaluations.
- Collect field data, photographs, samples, and site observations.
- Prepare hazardous materials inventories and quantity estimates.
- Review project documents, site history, aerial photographs, and background records.
- Coordinate subcontractors, project schedules, and field logistics.
- Assist Project Managers with technical reporting and project execution.
- Maintain accurate field notes and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Attend project sites throughout Southern California as required.
Qualifications
- Active CSST (Certified Site Surveillance Technician) certification required.
- Approximately 2+ years of experience performing hazardous materials, asbestos, lead, industrial hygiene, or related environmental consulting work.
- Experience conducting asbestos and lead surveys.
- Experience performing abatement monitoring.
- Knowledge of California hazardous materials regulations and industry practices.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in the field and effectively manage multiple assignments.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- HAZWOPER Training.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
- Lead Inspector certification.
- Experience with mold investigations.
- Additional hazardous materials certifications.
Work Environment
This is a predominantly field-based position, with approximately 80-90% of time spent on project sites.
Project schedules vary based on client needs, creating a dynamic work environment where no two weeks are the same. Some projects may last a single day, while others may continue for several months. Candidates should be comfortable supporting changing schedules and responding to project demands throughout Southern California.
