Substation Engineering - Supervisor (REMOTE)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of engineers and designers in the planning and execution of substation projects (new builds, upgrades, expansions).
  • Oversee the preparation of engineering designs, specifications, and cost estimates for high-voltage substations (typically 69kV to 500kV).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes (e.g., IEEE, NESC), and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, grounding, and layout drawings.
  • Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, utilities, and external stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for engineering tasks.
  • Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments to ensure system reliability and safety.
  • Support procurement activities by providing technical input on equipment specifications and vendor selection.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in substation design and automation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in substation engineering, including leadership roles.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of protection and control systems, SCADA integration, and substation automation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
