Overview:
A dynamic, employee-owned consulting firm is seeking an experienced and licensed Survey Department Manager to lead and oversee surveying operations. This role involves managing a team of surveyors and technicians, coordinating with engineering and utility teams, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality survey data for a variety of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor survey staff, promoting safe work practices.
- Coordinate survey findings with engineering, right-of-way, and utility personnel.
- Define project scopes, objectives, and budgets in collaboration with project managers.
- Conduct research using maps, deeds, and physical evidence to support survey accuracy.
- Make independent decisions on survey methods and problem-solving.
- Represent the firm in client meetings and industry conferences.
- Develop and manage complex surveying projects with significant impact.
- Prepare or oversee the creation of survey proposals, maps, charts, and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Land Surveyor (required).
- Proven leadership experience in managing survey teams and projects.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Familiarity with subsurface utility engineering (SUE) and land division processes.
