We surveyed our vast, global network of the best, in-demand professionals, and came up with a number of valuable insights that employers need to know about if they want to attract the best talent, and just as critically, keep them.

Sustainable practices
We surveyed our global energy & infrastructure network at LVI Associates and found that 76% of respondents reported that ESG is important when hunting for a new job.
As a new generation starts to move into the workforce, businesses need to realize and enact change for the environment, to keep attracting the very best talent. And it’s not just a hiring trend, it is the future.
These days, especially in a candidate-driven market, we’re finding a lot more Engineers feel compelled to make a change based on what a company has to offer and whether this aligns to their vision.
Salary snapshot across APAC
We gained valuable salary and benefits insights from energy & infrastructure professionals across Asia Pacific in the renewable energy & water sectors.
Key findings include:
- 76% of Engineering professionals received a salary increment in last 12 months - an increase of 20% compared to the year before.
- 70% of Sales/Business Development professionals received a bonus in 2022, and 83% received a salary increment in last 12 months – an increase of 25% compared to the year previous.
- 68% of Engineering professionals in Singapore’s Water industry received a bonus.
- 77% of Sales & Development Water professionals in China received a salary increase in the past year.
- There are great opportunities for professionals in Japan’s Wind sector.
- We found a sharp rise in higher salary brackets in Japan in 2022 compared to 2021, with 17% of 2022 respondents receiving a salary package of more than $40m JPY compared to only 1% in 2021.
Over 8 out of 10 solar professionals in Australia, Japan, and Singapore received high flexibility at work, most of whom can have 5 days per week working from home.
US industry insights
In energy & infrastructure, it’s never been more competitive and more important to value your workforce, which is why we investigated the top career trends shaping Engineering & Infrastructure across North America, to unveil what professionals are really thinking about their roles. Nearly 2,000 Engineering & Infrastructure professionals shared their thoughts on the industry right now, covering relocation, growth, and mobility, as well as compensation and flexible working, so we can all best understand their sentiments.
The 3 main motivators US professionals say they have for moving to a new job are:
- More compensation (64%)
- Better work-life balance (30.5%)
- Flexible working (29.5%)
An interesting ‘pull’ factor revealed was the need for strong leadership and a good workplace culture. Ultimately, the reason people go to a new company is based on whether or not they can see themselves liking the people they work with. This is a clear indication that a more human led approach to work in this industry is generally required. In other words, a one-size fits-all approach simply won’t do the trick.
