Account Manager - Specialty Chemicals (Water Treatment)

Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts while identifying and developing new opportunities within the assigned territory
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, building long‑term, trusted relationships at both plant and corporate levels
- Deliver consultative solutions across water treatment, wastewater treatment, and process chemistry applications
- Conduct site visits to assess systems, identify improvement opportunities, and support implementation of chemical programs
- Collaborate with technical service teams to support troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop and execute territory plans aligned with revenue growth, retention, and margin objectives
- Monitor customer performance, ensure contract compliance, and proactively address service or performance concerns
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and CRM activity related to accounts and opportunities
- Stay current on regulatory trends, sustainability initiatives, and industry best practices impacting customer operations
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, environmental science, or a related technical or business field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-7+ years of experience in technical sales, account management, or field‑based customer support within water treatment, wastewater, industrial chemistry, or related industries
- Strong understanding of industrial water systems, wastewater processes, or applied chemistry solutions
- Proven ability to manage a territory independently and build durable customer relationships
- Comfortable operating in manufacturing, industrial, or utility environments
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
