Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to design and implement automation solutions for both modernization and new installations of Level 1 control systems. This role involves working with a range of industrial equipment including Electric Arc Furnaces, Vacuum Tank Degassers, Continuous Casters, Rolling Mills, and other metallurgical and process line systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement PLC-based automation control systems integrating motion control, sensors, VFD drives, and actuators
  • Program Level 1 control systems using function descriptions and mechanical/hydraulic layouts
  • Tackle complex engineering challenges with innovative techniques and procedures
  • Collaborate with project teams, internal experts, customers, and suppliers to resolve technical issues
  • Conduct integrated system testing and simulation prior to delivery
  • Support on-site commissioning and provide training as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in metals or a related industry
  • Proficiency with PLCs and automation practices
  • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell RSLogix5000 preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Willingness to travel for project support
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
