AV Design Engineer

Position: Audio Visual (A/V) Systems Designer
Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid - 1 day remote/week)

A leading technology integration firm is seeking an experienced Audio Visual Systems Designer to join their growing team in Dallas, TX. This role involves designing and delivering complex, custom A/V solutions across a variety of commercial environments, including boardrooms, training centers, and large-scale collaboration spaces. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, client-facing experience, and the ability to manage projects from concept through commissioning and closeout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead client discovery meetings and needs analysis

  • Design and specify A/V systems from concept to final documentation

  • Create and maintain CAD-based drawing packages and signal flow diagrams

  • Prepare scopes of work, estimates, and cost proposals

  • Source and price equipment, materials, and subcontractor services

  • Participate in site surveys, bid meetings, and project kickoffs

  • Own and support the design throughout installation, commissioning, and client training

  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders

  • Ensure compliance with company and industry standards

  • Contribute to the mentoring and training of junior team members

Systems Experience Should Include:

  • Conference rooms, training centers, and town halls

  • Video and audio signal distribution, control systems, digital signage

  • Unified communications platforms (MS Teams, Zoom, WebEx, etc.)

  • Room scheduling, sound masking, paging, and background music

  • Networked AV systems (Dante, AES67, etc.)

  • Hands-on with systems such as QSC Q-SYS, Crestron, Shure, Extron, Cisco, Logitech, Poly, and more

Qualifications:

  • CTS-D / CTS certification (required)

  • 5+ years of commercial A/V design experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional/military experience

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (AutoCAD LT preferred)

  • Ability to read and interpret construction and electrical drawings

  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills

  • Familiarity with construction environments and coordination with trades

  • Willingness to travel as needed

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position based in Dallas, TX

  • Hybrid schedule with 1 day per week work-from-home
