AV Design Engineer
We are seeking an experienced AV Design Engineer to lead the end‑to‑end design and technical development of integrated audiovisual systems. This role involves creating detailed system designs, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting projects throughout implementation. The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of engineering expertise, architectural plan review, documentation accuracy, and customer‑facing communication.
Key Responsibilities
System & Technical Design
- Lead the full AV system design process from concept through production.
- Develop schematics, signal flow diagrams, shop drawings, construction documents, submittals, and as‑built documentation.
- Produce detailed equipment specifications, bill of materials, and cost proposals.
- Create and update architectural plans, integrating AV systems into building drawings.
- Maintain a strong understanding of current and emerging AV technologies, platforms, and design practices.
Collaboration & Project Support
- Partner with internal teams and end users to analyze technology needs, define project goals, and develop solutions that meet functional and budgetary requirements.
- Work closely with project managers, program managers, and technical staff to ensure system functionality throughout the build and commissioning phases.
- Provide technical guidance to pre‑sales and post‑sales teams, including lessons learned and design recommendations.
- Support estimation efforts by developing sales proposals and project documentation in coordination with relevant departments.
Implementation Oversight
- Participate in design reviews, QA/QC checks, and technology discussions.
- Assist in verifying system performance during installation through collaboration with implementation teams.
- Ensure all deliverables meet internal standards, project specifications, and customer expectations.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in audiovisual systems, electronics engineering, or related fields.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, D‑Tools, and/or Microsoft Visio.
- Strong capability in producing schematics, engineering drawings, construction documents, and technical system layouts.
- Hands-on knowledge of major AV platforms, including Crestron, AMX, Extron, Q‑SYS, Biamp, Dante, AVB, AES67, Teams Rooms, or Zoom Rooms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
Preferred
- CTS and/or CTS‑D certification (Certified Technology Specialist).
- Experience with architectural or construction environments, including design‑build workflows and coordination with architects/GCs.
- Ability to modify architectural drawings to incorporate integrated technology.
