Role Overview
The Billing Manager will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for overseeing all billing and collections operations, strategy, and reporting. This role is critical in managing vendor relationships, ensuring accurate revenue tracking, and supporting cross-functional teams including Finance, Legal, Sales, and Account Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the billing review process and resolve discrepancies pre- and post-invoicing
- Ensure timely and accurate billing to customers
- Manage vendor relationships to enhance billing features and reporting capabilities
- Present monthly KPIs and insights to senior leadership
- Support executive decision-making with data-driven analysis
- Translate business needs into technical billing requirements
- Reconcile billing data and documentation
- Resolve billing disputes and ensure timely issue resolution
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Collaborate across departments to improve end-to-end billing processes
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress
- Attend team meetings and contribute to ongoing process improvements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in billing, collections, operations, or accounting
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel)
Preferred:
- 5+ years of operations experience
- Experience in retail energy or solar industries
- Familiarity with property management software (e.g., RealPage, Yardi, AppFolio)
