Bridge Engineer
We’re working with a leading engineering consultancy in Michigan to hire a Bridge Engineer, PE with 4 to 8 years of experience in bridge design, structural analysis and transportation infrastructure.
You’ll work on a range of MDOT and local agency bridge projects, covering design, rehabilitation, inspection, load rating and project delivery. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of technical work while developing toward greater project and client responsibility.
The position can be based in Grand Rapids, Lansing or Farmington Hills, Michigan.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Design and analyse highway bridges and other transportation structures.
- Prepare structural calculations, plans, specifications and engineering documentation.
- Support bridge rehabilitation, replacement and new bridge design projects.
- Complete or assist with bridge inspections, condition assessments and bridge load ratings.
- Work on MDOT bridge projects from scoping and preliminary design through final design and construction.
- Apply AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and MDOT bridge standards.
- Work with structural, roadway and transportation engineering teams.
- Support project schedules, budgets, cost estimates and technical reports.
- Use bridge design and analysis software including LEAP Bridge, MDX and AASHTOWare BrR, alongside MicroStation and Bentley OpenRoads.
- Develop relationships with public-sector transportation clients and project stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required
- 4+ years of bridge or structural engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence
- Demonstrated bridge design experience
- Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
Preferred
- MDOT project experience
- Bridge inspection experience
- Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer and/or MicroStation
- Experience with bridge analysis and design software such as LEAP Bridge, MDX or AASHTOWare BrR
