Position Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Bridge Superintendent to manage field operations on bridge construction projects. This role will be responsible for overseeing safety, quality, productivity, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and day to day site execution.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing civil, road and bridge work, including concrete and steel bridge structures. Experience running bridge projects in or around the Cincinnati, OH market would be especially valuable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily field operations on heavy civil bridge projects
- Manage crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and jobsite resources
- Develop and maintain short term and overall project schedules
- Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements to ensure full scope understanding
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal project teams
- Monitor safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance throughout construction
- Develop daily crew plans and keep field activities aligned with project deadlines
- Lead foreman meetings and communicate upcoming work clearly to field teams
- Maintain accurate daily reports, project documentation, and jobsite records
- Track costs, manage company assets, and support efficient use of labor and equipment
- Identify potential issues early and plan ahead using two-week lookaheads
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, regulations, and company standards
- Build and maintain strong relationships with project owners and key stakeholders
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of construction experience, with strong bridge construction experience required
- Proven experience supervising heavy civil, roadway/highway and/or bridge projects
- Strong knowledge of concrete and steel bridge structures
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Experience managing crews, subcontractors, vendors, and field resources
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage complex projects, multiple priorities, and tight deadlines
- Strong judgement, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent field experience will also be considered
- Experience working on civil projects in the Ohio market is a plus
