About the Role
Our client is seeking a versatile Building Envelope Consultant to lead and support projects focused on the evaluation, design, and long-term planning of building envelope systems. This role is ideal for a professional who combines technical expertise with strategic thinking, particularly in Capital Reserve Fund Studies. You will manage investigations, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to both fieldwork and planning deliverables. Expect hands-on site inspections, diagnostic testing, and collaboration with stakeholders to develop actionable solutions for complex building challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed field assessments and diagnostic testing of building envelope systems, including roofing, waterproofing, and fenestration.
- Prepare Capital Reserve Fund Studies and lifecycle cost analyses to support long-term asset planning.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to provide technical input during design and construction phases.
- Develop repair and rehabilitation strategies for facades, roofing systems, and subgrade waterproofing.
- Prepare clear, comprehensive reports and documentation based on site investigations and design analysis.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
- Perform peer reviews of technical drawings and specifications.
- Assist with construction oversight and coordination during implementation phases.
- Participate in sampling and analysis of building materials and assemblies.
- Engage in professional development and maintain involvement in relevant industry groups.
Qualifications
- Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Science, or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building envelope consulting, design, or construction oversight.
- Professional certification or license required (Professional Engineer or Registered Architect).
- Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Familiarity with design software and technical documentation tools.
- Experience in areas such as façade engineering, conservation, or rope access is a plus.
- Willingness to travel to various sites, including those with limited access and elevated heights.
