About the Role
The client is seeking a dynamic and well-connected Business Development Manager to lead their expansion into the data center sector in Malaysia. This role is ideal for someone with a strong network in the industry, a proven track record in tendering and bidding for large-scale infrastructure projects, and a deep understanding of the data center ecosystem in Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Business Development Efforts: Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in the data center sector across Johor and surrounding regions.
- Tender & Bid Management: Spearhead the end-to-end tendering and bidding process for data center projects, including proposal development, pricing strategies, and stakeholder coordination.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments to inform strategic decisions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including developers, consultants, contractors, government agencies, and technology partners.
- Strategic Partnerships: Leverage existing networks to form alliances and partnerships that enhance our market presence and project pipeline.
- Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Provide accurate sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and regular reporting to senior management.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5-8 years in business development, preferably in the data center, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
- Industry Network: Strong connections and leads within the data center ecosystem in Malaysia, especially in Johor.
- Technical Acumen: Understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements is a strong advantage.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Language: Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is a plus.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel within Malaysia and occasionally regionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Familiarity with local tendering regulations and procurement processes.
- Experience working with multinational clients or hyperscale data center operators.
