Role Summary
The Senior Superintendent is responsible for planning, managing, and executing all aspects of complex construction projects or multiple concurrent projects. This role oversees project teams, coordinates construction sequencing, and ensures timely and profitable project completion. All responsibilities are carried out in alignment with the organization's strategic goals, values, and safety standards.

Core Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Safety
Champions a culture of safety and leads by example to promote an injury-free work environment.
Investigates incidents and ensures corrective training is implemented.
Team & Site Management
Oversees subcontractors, suppliers, and internal staff across all phases of the project.
Develops and manages work plans for subcontracted and self-performed tasks.
Maintains control and oversight of the project site, including logistics and site safety.
Scheduling & Coordination
Leads daily and weekly coordination meetings with trades and stakeholders.
Participates in owner-architect-contractor (OAC) meetings and other progress reviews.
Creates and adjusts project schedules in collaboration with project management.
Budget & Documentation
Monitors project costs and budget performance using internal reporting tools.
Maintains organized project documentation including drawings, logs, and reports.
Tracks unit costs and productivity metrics; completes daily field reports.
Quality & Compliance
Ensures quality standards are met through inspections, specifications, and QA/QC processes.
Coordinates project closeout activities, including punch lists and final inspections.
Operational Support
Manages material and equipment needs and supports procurement processes.
Selects appropriate tools, formwork, and equipment for self-perform operations.
Approves timecards and ensures accurate labor cost coding.
Strategic & Business Development
Participates in project planning and preconstruction efforts.
Supports staffing decisions and resource allocation for field operations.
Engages in change management and negotiation processes with clients and design teams.
Contributes to project review meetings and buyout sessions with vendors.
Talent & Culture
Recruits and mentors team members, fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Promotes organizational values and ensures compliance with non-discrimination policies.
Senior-Level Responsibilities
In addition to core duties, the Senior Superintendent:
Leads large-scale or multiple projects from planning through completion.
Manages teams of superintendents and coordinates across multiple disciplines.
Drives strategic initiatives and contributes to business development efforts.
Represents the company in industry and community engagements.
Collaborates with marketing and leadership on project pursuits and presentations.
Identifies and mitigates project risks; recommends solutions to complex challenges.
Oversees deliverables from internal support teams (e.g., logistics, technology).
Qualifications
Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication; capable of leading presentations.
Proficient in construction management software, scheduling tools, and MS Office.
Deep understanding of construction methods, trades, and self-perform operations.
Skilled in budgeting, productivity tracking, and relationship-building.
Knowledgeable in Lean construction principles and field layout techniques.
Ability to interpret and manage document changes and their impact on schedules.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in construction or engineering preferred.
10+ years of construction experience, including 8+ years in field supervision.
Experience implementing Lean principles on projects is a plus.
Working Conditions
Valid driver's license required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to travel or relocate as needed.
Exposure to varying weather conditions and non-traditional work hours.
Frequent physical activity including standing, walking, climbing, and bending.
