Location: Southeast United States
Travel: Approximately 70%+ travel throughout the territory

About the Opportunity

A growing provider of industrial water and wastewater treatment solutions is seeking a District Engineer to support business development, technical sales, and customer relationship management across the Southeastern United States.

This is a high-impact role for an experienced water professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial acumen. The successful candidate will work closely with industrial customers, engineering firms, utilities, and strategic partners to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and support complex water and wastewater treatment projects.

The position offers the opportunity to influence major environmental compliance initiatives, develop long-term customer relationships, and help customers address evolving regulatory and operational challenges.


Position Summary

The District Engineer will leverage water management, wastewater treatment, and environmental compliance expertise to develop and execute strategic growth initiatives throughout the assigned territory.

This role combines technical leadership, business development, customer engagement, opportunity identification, proposal development, and sales support activities. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, research and development, and commercial teams to deliver effective treatment solutions for customers operating in industrial and utility markets.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Growth

  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies and business plans for water and wastewater treatment opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue new projects across utility, industrial, mining, manufacturing, and process industries.
  • Develop annual and long-range business plans to support regional growth objectives.
  • Achieve assigned sales and revenue targets.

Customer & Industry Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers, engineering firms, contractors, and industry partners.
  • Conduct customer meetings, site visits, and technical discussions to understand operational needs and project requirements.
  • Strengthen customer satisfaction through responsive support and strategic account management.
  • Support post-bid negotiations and project development activities.

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as a technical resource for water management and wastewater treatment initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and technical teams on system design concepts, technology selection, equipment recommendations, and best practices.
  • Assist in evaluating treatment technologies and developing customer solutions.
  • Provide technical presentations and support for customer-facing activities.

Market Development & Regulatory Awareness

  • Monitor market conditions, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of environmental regulations and industry drivers impacting customer decision-making.
  • Support customers facing water quality, discharge, and environmental compliance challenges.
  • Develop strategies to capitalize on regulatory-driven project opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, operations, marketing, and business development teams.
  • Support proposal development, opportunity qualification, and project execution efforts.
  • Share market intelligence and customer feedback to support business growth initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or related discipline).
  • 10-15+ years of experience in water management, wastewater treatment, or related industrial treatment applications.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical sales, business development, procurement, contracting, or commercial project development.
  • Strong understanding of industrial water and wastewater treatment technologies.
  • Experience supporting utility, mining, manufacturing, chemical, pulp & paper, or heavy industrial customers.
  • Proven ability to identify, develop, and grow technical sales opportunities.
  • Strong customer relationship management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Professional Engineering registration or equivalent professional certifications.
  • Experience with complex industrial water treatment systems.
  • Established network of industry contacts across industrial or utility markets.
  • Experience bringing new technologies or solutions to market.
  • Track record of expanding market presence and growing sales revenue.
