CAD Tech - Civil 3D
A growing civil engineering and surveying firm in Western Colorado is seeking a CAD Designer to support transportation and land development projects throughout the region. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys producing high-quality construction documents and working closely with engineers, project managers, and public agency clients.
The successful candidate will have strong Civil 3D experience and a background developing plans for roadway, infrastructure, and site development projects. Experience supporting Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) projects is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare construction plans, technical drawings, and engineering exhibits for transportation and land development projects
- Develop and maintain Civil 3D models, surfaces, alignments, profiles, and corridors
- Assist with roadway, utility, drainage, grading, and site design plan production
- Support the preparation of CDOT plan sets, specifications, and project deliverables
- Coordinate with engineers, survey teams, and project managers to ensure project accuracy and quality
- Review drawings for completeness, consistency, and compliance with project standards
- Incorporate redlines and design revisions throughout the project lifecycle
- Assist with quantity calculations, exhibits, and permit-related documentation
- Maintain drawing standards and file management procedures
Qualifications
- 3+ years of CAD drafting and design experience within civil engineering
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience supporting transportation and/or land development projects
- Working knowledge of grading, drainage, roadway design, and utility layouts
- Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, and design calculations
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on CDOT transportation projects
- Familiarity with CDOT drafting standards and project delivery requirements
- Experience producing roadway plan and profile sheets, cross sections, and traffic control plans
- Knowledge of survey data processing and existing conditions modeling
- Exposure to municipal, county, or state agency projects
- Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent CAD experience
