CHICAGO | Survey Project Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced Survey Project Manager to lead surveying operations and project delivery throughout the Chicago area. This role is ideal for a licensed survey professional who enjoys managing projects from start to finish, developing teams, and working on large-scale infrastructure and development initiatives.
The successful candidate will oversee project execution, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and provide leadership to both field and office staff while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and quality across all deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage survey projects from planning through completion, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality objectives are achieved.
- Lead and mentor survey crews, technicians, and office staff to support successful project delivery.
- Oversee survey data collection, processing, analysis, and final deliverables.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, utility providers, public agencies, and other project stakeholders.
- Review project workflows and technical work products to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Support project planning, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation efforts.
- Maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to support future project and business growth.
Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Registered Land Surveyor (RLS) license strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field preferred.
- 8+ years of surveying, geomatics, or related civil infrastructure experience.
- Proven experience leading project teams and managing budgets, schedules, and project deliverables.
- Strong understanding of construction staking, GPS surveying, traverses, boundary surveys, and plan interpretation.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or similar surveying software platforms.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
- Utility, energy, renewable energy, land development, or infrastructure project experience.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across both office and field operations.
- Client-facing project management experience.
- Strong technical review and quality assurance capabilities.
