About the Role

As our Chief Electrical Estimator, you'll play a critical role in shaping the success of our business. You will lead the estimating function, drive project pursuit strategy, and ensure every estimate is competitive, accurate, and aligned with our operational capabilities.

More than simply pricing projects, you'll provide the insight and leadership that helps us win the right work, manage risk effectively, and build long-term trust with our clients. Your expertise will directly influence company growth, project profitability, and the success of our field teams.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the complete estimating process for complex electrical construction projects, from initial bid review through final proposal submission.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and scope documents to develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and preconstruction teams to ensure estimates align with execution strategies and project objectives.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to estimating team members.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and market intelligence.
  • Participate in bid strategy discussions, project selection, risk assessment, and market positioning initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in estimating processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Support business development efforts by contributing technical expertise during client presentations and preconstruction discussions.

What You Bring

  • 15+ years of electrical construction experience, including at least 5 years in a estimation leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and industry standards.
  • Experience estimating commercial, industrial, mission-critical, healthcare, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with estimating platforms such as Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam, or comparable software.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and construction documents.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to evaluate project risk and opportunity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Extensive experience supporting complex electrical systems within commercial, industrial, or mission-critical environments.
  • Deep understanding of NEC, NFPA 70/70E, IEEE, and NETA standards.
  • Experience managing quality assurance and quality control processes on major electrical construction projects.
  • Proficiency with construction management and collaboration tools such as Procore, BIM 360, Smartsheet, or CMMS platforms.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Bonus Points

We'd love to hear from you if you also have:

  • Professional certifications such as PE, LEED, ASPE, or CPE.
  • Experience supporting data centre, healthcare, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing projects.
  • Established relationships with vendors and subcontractors throughout the Mid-West
  • Experience leading estimates for large-scale projects exceeding $15M-$100M in electrical scope.
