Senior Estimator

Overview

A well-established mechanical contracting firm is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead budgeting and cost estimating activities across a portfolio of construction projects. This position is responsible for managing the full estimating lifecycle for both pursuits and awarded work while driving consistency, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the estimating process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare budget estimates, proposals, contracts, and change orders for large-scale mechanical/plumbing construction projects.
  • Identify project risks and evaluate potential cost impacts.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed estimates based on preliminary and completed design information.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope.
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders regarding pricing, scope, and estimating questions.
  • Participate in project meetings, buyout discussions, and project closeout activities as required.
  • Evaluate design alternatives and recommend cost-effective solutions based on constructability, material availability, and value engineering.
  • Conduct project reviews and visit job sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of estimating experience within the construction industry.
  • Field construction experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost structures.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Professional trade licensing or industry certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work for extended periods at a desk and computer.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, crouch, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
