The Role
A senior technical civil engineering position with significant project ownership, client relationship responsibilities, and mentorship duties. You'll lead complex projects from conceptual planning through construction administration while serving as a go-to technical resource within the department.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and execution of civil engineering projects from conceptual planning through construction administration
- Prepare and review site plans, grading plans, utility plans, stormwater plans, roadway plans, and construction documents
- Perform engineering calculations, technical analyses, and design evaluations
- Coordinate project activities with internal teams, clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies
- Prepare and review technical reports, cost estimates, specifications, permit applications, and bid documents
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination
- Monitor project progress and identify potential challenges or risks
- Support construction administration including site visits and contractor inquiry responses
- Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineering staff and review their work for accuracy and completeness
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships and support business development efforts
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- 3 to 8 years of civil engineering experience
- EIT certification required
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and common civil engineering design software
- Strong understanding of local, state, and federal permitting and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects from conceptual design through construction with limited supervision
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PE license already in hand
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior staff
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams
- Background in project budgeting, scheduling, and client communications
Compensation
- $85,000 to $145,000 depending on experience
