A well-established, employee-owned multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking a Civil Engineer III/IV to join its rapidly growing Civil Engineering team in Billings, Montana.
This is a growth-driven hire, not a backfill, offering the opportunity to join one of the firm's fastest-growing departments. The selected individual will work closely with senior leadership, including an Engineering Manager and Partners who are actively involved in project delivery and staff development.
What You'll Work On
The Civil Engineering team supports a diverse portfolio of public and private-sector projects, including:
- Site development and land development projects
- Municipal infrastructure improvements
- Commercial and community developments
- School and educational facility projects
- Stormwater management and drainage systems
- Wastewater collection and runoff management
- Potable water distribution systems
- Roadway and transportation-related infrastructure
- Utility coordination and grading design
Responsibilities
- Lead civil engineering projects from planning and design through construction administration.
- Prepare and review site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, roadway plans, and stormwater management designs.
- Perform engineering calculations, technical analyses, and design evaluations.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary internal teams.
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, specifications, permit applications, and bid documents.
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify solutions to project challenges.
- Participate in construction administration activities, including site visits and review of contractor inquiries.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and EITs.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 3-8+ years of civil engineering experience.
- EIT required.
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
- Experience in consulting engineering preferred.
- Strong experience with site development, municipal infrastructure, utilities, stormwater, drainage, or transportation projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
