Location: Sumner, WA
Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 base + bonus potential

A well-established general contractor is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to oversee field operations on a variety of public works projects throughout the Puget Sound region. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving project execution, maintaining schedules, and ensuring high standards of safety and quality in the field.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys leading crews on complex civil scopes including utilities, roadway, and site development work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day field operations across multiple civil construction projects
  • Coordinate subcontractors, field staff, and project teams to ensure schedules are met
  • Enforce safety standards and promote a strong safety culture on-site
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and proactively solve field challenges
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with contract documents and specifications
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers on budgets, schedules, and reporting

Experience Needed

  • 5-10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction
  • Proven background working on public works projects (DOT, municipal, or similar)
  • Experience managing field operations for projects involving:
    • Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
    • Roadway and site development
    • Earthwork and grading
  • Experience leading crews and coordinating subcontractors on active job sites

Qualifications Required

  • Strong understanding of civil construction methods, sequencing, and best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage schedules and drive projects to completion
  • OSHA knowledge and a strong commitment to job site safety
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to local job sites
