Location: Sumner, WA
Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 base + bonus potential
A well-established general contractor is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to oversee field operations on a variety of public works projects throughout the Puget Sound region. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving project execution, maintaining schedules, and ensuring high standards of safety and quality in the field.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys leading crews on complex civil scopes including utilities, roadway, and site development work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day field operations across multiple civil construction projects
- Coordinate subcontractors, field staff, and project teams to ensure schedules are met
- Enforce safety standards and promote a strong safety culture on-site
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and proactively solve field challenges
- Ensure quality control and compliance with contract documents and specifications
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers on budgets, schedules, and reporting
Experience Needed
- 5-10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction
- Proven background working on public works projects (DOT, municipal, or similar)
- Experience managing field operations for projects involving:
- Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
- Roadway and site development
- Earthwork and grading
- Experience leading crews and coordinating subcontractors on active job sites
Qualifications Required
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods, sequencing, and best practices
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage schedules and drive projects to completion
- OSHA knowledge and a strong commitment to job site safety
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to local job sites
