A leading clean energy company with offices across the U.S. is seeking a Manager of Community Relations to support its low carbon generation business. This role is part of the External Affairs team and reports to the Director of Corporate Communications. The position focuses on community engagement and communications strategies for energy projects in development and operation nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies for projects from development through operation.
- Coordinate annual charitable giving plans in collaboration with internal teams.
- Identify and build relationships with key stakeholders including community groups, local governments, and regulatory agencies.
- Serve as the primary community relations liaison for the low carbon team.
- Proactively address stakeholder concerns and mitigate potential issues.
- Create outreach materials such as mailers, digital content, and FAQs.
- Oversee external public relations firms to ensure consistent messaging and effective outreach.
- Maintain quality control across all deliverables.
- Organize and participate in community events such as open houses and information sessions.
- Support broader corporate communications initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field (graduate degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in communications and public outreach for energy or infrastructure projects.
- Proven success in stakeholder engagement and navigating complex development environments.
- Experience in community relations, political campaigns, or public relations agencies.
- Skilled in drafting communications and presentations.
- Detail-oriented, self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional demeanor aligned with company values.
- Willingness to travel (30-40%).
- Must pass a pre-employment background and credit check.
