Construction Administrator
Position: Construction Administration Architect - Small to Mid-Scale Projects
A multidisciplinary architecture team is seeking a Construction Administration Architect to support the delivery of small to mid-scale projects through the construction phase. This role involves applying broad architectural knowledge and independent judgment to solve technical challenges, maintain design integrity, and ensure quality execution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and experienced in navigating construction processes and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate clear and consistent communication among project stakeholders, including owners, design teams, engineers, and contractors.
- Apply working knowledge of building codes and systems (architectural, civil, structural, etc.) to support construction-phase decisions.
- Review and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals to ensure alignment with design intent and contract documents.
- Collaborate with design teams to understand and uphold the original design vision throughout construction.
- Monitor changes initiated by owners or contractors and flag potential scope adjustments for project management review.
- Evaluate submittals (e.g., shop drawings, product data) for compliance with project documentation and quality standards.
- Conduct site visits and inspections, preparing detailed field reports to document progress and issues.
- Administer cost-related aspects of the project, including change orders, substitutions, time delays, and payment applications.
- Maintain current knowledge of project agreements and facilitate coordination among owners, architects, contractors, and consultants.
- Participate in project meetings to address technical issues and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Foster a collaborative and professional working relationship with all project participants.
- Understand and apply basic accounting principles and project financial processes.
- Support budget adherence and track utilization rates in alignment with project plans.
- Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, supporting client relationships, and assisting with proposals and budgeting.
Qualifications
- Professional degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Science, or a related field preferred.
- Architectural licensure preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in architecture or construction administration.
- Sustainable design accreditation is a plus.
- Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling tools; familiarity with Newforma and PDF-editing software preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design principles.
- Familiarity with standard architectural agreements and project documentation protocols.
- Strong understanding of building systems, codes, accessibility guidelines, and QA/QC processes.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
