Job Title: Construction Manager - High Voltage Transmission & Substations
Location: Gray County, Texas
Overview:
We are seeking experienced Construction Managers to oversee and manage construction activities for electrical transmission substations and high-voltage overhead transmission lines. This is a full-time, site-based role serving as the primary point of contact for all field-related activities, ensuring contractors meet technical, commercial, and safety requirements while delivering projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all field services during project execution, including pre-construction planning, construction management, quality control, safety oversight, and permit compliance.
- Manage contractors in alignment with project budgets, schedules, technical requirements, and contractual provisions.
- Coordinate multiple stakeholders-contractors, inspectors, field engineers, utilities, and regulatory representatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, permit, and quality standards.
- Oversee field documentation, including RFIs, issue logs, drawings, and compliance records.
- Track contractor schedules and maintain integrated construction schedules with three-week look-aheads.
- Prepare daily field reports and participate in weekly coordination meetings.
- Manage progress, costs, risks, and opportunities throughout construction and commissioning.
- Ensure proper documentation for commercial closeout, warranty management, and turnover to Operations.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience managing large-scale, high-voltage transmission or substation construction projects.
- Strong understanding of power delivery codes, standards, and best practices.
- OSHA 30-hour certification (required).
- Proven ability to manage contractors, schedules, and field documentation.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Highly organized and committed to safety and quality.
- Willingness to travel or be based at project sites as needed.
