Construction Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex construction projects from preconstruction planning through final completion. This individual will oversee project execution, client relationships, subcontractor management, budgeting, scheduling, quality assurance, safety performance, and overall operational delivery.

Working closely with senior leadership, engineering teams, clients, and field operations, the Project Manager will play a key role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Manage the full lifecycle of construction projects from planning and procurement through commissioning and closeout.
  • Direct daily project activities to ensure schedule, quality, cost, and safety objectives are achieved.
  • Develop execution strategies, project schedules, staffing plans, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project performance, track milestones, identify risks, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Lead project start-up and closeout activities, including turnover documentation and warranty management.

Client & Contract Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong working relationships throughout project delivery.
  • Support business development and proposal efforts for prospective and existing clients.
  • Review, negotiate, and administer prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and commercial agreements.
  • Manage contractual obligations, claims avoidance strategies, and project documentation requirements.

Financial Management

  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and cost reporting.
  • Track project financial performance and ensure profitability objectives are achieved.
  • Oversee invoicing processes for clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor schedule and cost metrics, earned value performance, and change management activities.

Procurement & Subcontractor Management

  • Lead procurement and bidding activities, including subcontractor prequalification, evaluation, selection, and award recommendations.
  • Develop scopes of work and oversee subcontract administration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure materials management processes are effectively implemented, including receiving, storage, and inventory control.

Safety & Quality

  • Champion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all company, client, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee project quality programs, inspections, audits, and corrective action processes.
  • Review field operations to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
  • Support project permitting and regulatory compliance requirements.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for project engineers, coordinators, assistant project managers, and field personnel.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple disciplines to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Assist with workforce planning, staffing decisions, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and professional growth.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, trade partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate commissioning, start-up, and turnover activities with project teams and external partners.
  • Represent the company professionally in meetings with owners, regulators, and industry organizations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience managing construction projects, preferably with a general contractor, EPC contractor, or construction management firm.
  • Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, cost management, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Experience leading large-scale commercial, industrial, mission critical, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, transportation, or related construction projects.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and common construction management software platforms.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required and maintain a valid driver's licence.
