Job Description
The Controls Engineer I will be responsible for programming, implementation, and startup of automation and integration projects. This role ensures smooth project execution and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have expertise in computer/PLC/HMI programming, electrical controls, and process engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Programming:
- Manage the full lifecycle of automation solutions, including RFP review, technical documentation, and onsite implementation.
- Develop and implement control programming for new and existing systems.
- Support commissioning and customer acceptance of control systems.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies through prototyping and testing.
- Communicate project scope issues promptly
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Travel to customer sites for commissioning as needed.
Other Duties:
- Adhere to established safety and quality standards.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems (AC/DC circuits, instrument loops, PLCs).
- Experience with PLC programming software (Studio5000, RSLogix 500, FactoryTalk Suite, GE Products, Ignition, Aveva/Wonderware).
- Familiarity with instrumentation (Discrete & Analog Devices, Flow meters, VFDs, Scales).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects.
- Collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of automation and integration concepts (system architecture, data mapping, API integration).
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and deliver timely solutions.
