We are partnering with a leading infrastructure delivery business seeking an experienced senior leader to drive strategic growth across the Australian water and wastewater sector.
This newly created position will play a critical role in shaping market strategy, developing executive-level client relationships, and converting major infrastructure opportunities into long-term business success. Working closely with executive leadership, you will influence the future direction of the business while helping secure some of the most significant water infrastructure projects in Australia.
About the Role
As Director, Water Market Development, you will sit at the intersection of strategy, client engagement and project pursuits. You will be responsible for identifying emerging market opportunities, building trusted relationships across the industry, and leading strategic initiatives that support sustainable growth.
This is a highly visible leadership role requiring a combination of commercial acumen, market insight and the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders across utilities, government and industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute growth strategies aligned to long-term business objectives.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, funding programs and infrastructure investment pipelines.
- Identify opportunities across water treatment, wastewater treatment, pump stations, pipelines, networks, renewals, digital water and operations services.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with utilities, government agencies, councils and industrial clients.
- Lead strategic opportunity identification, qualification and pursuit planning.
- Facilitate capture planning, win strategy workshops and bid reviews for major project opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, commercial and pre-contract teams to develop compelling client solutions.
- Identify and evaluate partnership, alliance and acquisition opportunities that support business growth.
- Produce strategic market analysis, growth forecasts and business planning reports.
- Track and report on growth performance metrics including pipeline development, win rates and revenue growth.
About You
You are a commercially minded leader with a strong understanding of Australia's water infrastructure market and a track record of developing and securing major project opportunities.
You bring:
- 15+ years of experience across business development, strategy, major projects, consulting or infrastructure delivery.
- Strong knowledge of the Australian water and wastewater sector.
- Experience working with utilities, government agencies and major infrastructure clients.
- Demonstrated success influencing and securing large-scale infrastructure opportunities.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Strong commercial, financial and strategic capability.
- The ability to operate confidently with executive stakeholders while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred
- Degree in Engineering, Commerce, Business or a related discipline.
- MBA or postgraduate qualification.
- Experience in corporate strategy, partnerships, or mergers and acquisitions.
