Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager

Location: Santa Clara County, CA (Hybrid & Flexible Work Options)

Overview

LVI Associates is representing a design‑forward structural engineering firm in Santa Clara County seeking a Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager. This role is ideal for someone who excels in technically challenging, architecturally driven projects and enjoys working closely with top architects and design teams.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Drive technical development, innovation, and engineering excellence across assigned projects
  • Lead or participate in early-phase coordination, kickoff meetings, and design workshops
  • Support internal technical initiatives and contribute to standards or best‑practice development
  • Present project progress and risks in recurring high-level reporting sessions
  • Oversee internal QA/QC reviews, design coordination, and drawing/documentation workflows
  • Manage project communication, schedules, deliverables, and documentation
  • Conduct site visits requiring advanced engineering evaluation and field coordination
  • Ensure full and organized project closeout procedures
  • Provide design direction and technical support to team members
  • Lead teams toward timely, high-quality project delivery

Client & Team Collaboration

  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients and design partners
  • Support issue resolution and escalate when appropriate
  • Foster long‑term client relationships and assist with ongoing business development efforts
  • Assist in preparing proposals, fee estimates, and client presentation materials

Technical Development & Mentorship

  • Participate in or lead internal technical committees
  • Develop and deliver technical training sessions and "Lunch & Learns"
  • Contribute to firmwide technical content and educational materials
  • Mentor junior engineers and help develop their technical and design capabilities

Financial & Operational Management

  • Monitor utilization and provide accurate monthly performance feedback
  • Manage invoicing, project projections, and financial tracking
  • Assist leadership in developing and maintaining project budgets


Qualifications

  • 8+ years of structural engineering experience
  • Strong technical knowledge and detailing skills across major structural materials
    • Experience with mass timber is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership experience
  • Active California P.E. license (required)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit (strongly preferred)
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and client-facing skills
  • Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple project streams
  • Passion for mentorship, technical growth, and team development
