About the Role
We are seeking an organized and detail‑oriented Operations Planner to support daily and long‑term planning for electric utility operations. This role ensures safe, efficient, and coordinated execution of field work, system maintenance, outage activities, and capital projects across the distribution network. The ideal candidate understands utility operations, has strong analytical skills, and excels at planning work that keeps crews productive and the system operating reliably.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, schedule, and optimize work plans for distribution operations, maintenance, and construction.
- Review engineering designs, work packages, and asset condition data to create accurate job scopes.
- Coordinate with field supervisors, engineering, system operations, procurement, and contractors to ensure work readiness.
- Identify resource needs, including labor, equipment, and materials, to support efficient job execution.
- Plan and coordinate planned outages, ensuring proper notifications and system safety requirements.
- Monitor project and maintenance backlogs, prioritizing work based on reliability needs, risk, safety, and system conditions.
- Maintain accurate records in work management systems and ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support storm response planning and mobilization as needed.
- Provide continuous improvement insights into work planning processes, crew efficiency, and scheduling accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Operations, or a related field; equivalent industry experience also considered.
- 2-5 years of experience in electric utility operations, planning, distribution, or related work.
- Strong knowledge of distribution system components, construction methods, and utility safety practices.
- Experience with work management systems (e.g., Maximo, SAP, Oracle WAM) preferred.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret drawings, work packages, switching procedures, and system maps.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams.
