A well‑established and growing Heavy Civil General Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Heavy Civil Project Manager to lead complex infrastructure projects throughout the Portland metro area and greater Oregon region. Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $155,000 - $185,000 (DOE)

Position Overview

The Senior Heavy Civil Project Manager will be responsible for the successful execution of large‑scale heavy civil projects from preconstruction through closeout. Projects may include earthwork, utilities, transportation, structures, site development, water/ wastewater treatment plants, and public works. This individual will oversee project teams, manage financial performance, and serve as the primary point of contact with owners, engineers, and subcontractors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage heavy civil construction projects from award through completion
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, contracts, and cost controls
  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Manage and mentor Project Managers, Engineers, and field staff
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and contract documents
  • Identify and mitigate project risks while driving schedule and cost performance
  • Support preconstruction efforts, change management, and claims resolution

Experience Required

  • 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction project management
  • Proven experience managing large‑scale heavy civil projects ($20M+ preferred)
  • Strong background in public works, DOT, utilities, earthwork, and/or structures
  • Demonstrated success managing budgets, schedules, and project teams
  • Experience working for a General Contractor (required)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of heavy civil construction means and methods
  • Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and teams in a fast‑paced environment
