A leading engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Project Manager to join its Transmission & Distribution practice, focusing on Distribution Modernization projects across the South-Central U.S. This role is based on-site in Houston, Texas.
The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of distribution engineering projects, from concept to completion. This includes managing client relationships, ensuring project profitability, and leading cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, proven project management experience, and a passion for driving innovation in the utility sector.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead projects through all phases: planning, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout.
* Build and maintain client relationships, focusing on repeat business and expanding service offerings.
* Serve as the primary client contact and manage all project communications.
* Prepare proposals, support presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.
* Develop and monitor project schedules, scope, and budgets.
* Oversee internal financials, risk management, and change control processes.
* Implement project policies, procedures, and execution plans.
* Ensure quality assurance and client satisfaction throughout project delivery.
* Provide regular updates on progress, costs, risks, and other key metrics.
* Collaborate with department managers on staffing and team development.
* Support hiring, training, and mentoring of team members.
* Travel to client sites and project locations as needed.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or a related field.
* Minimum 5-7 years of experience in distribution engineering, with at least 3 years in project management.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Experience producing distribution design and construction documents.
* Familiarity with NESC and other relevant industry codes.
* Demonstrated success in managing complex projects and client relationships.
* Professional Engineering (PE) license and/or PMP certification preferred.
* Willingness to travel and a valid driver's license required.
