Position Title: Licensed Electrical Engineer (PE) - Building Systems Design
Location: Buffalo, Syracuse, or Binghamton, NY (Hybrid or Office-Based Options Available)
Position Overview
A well-established multidisciplinary design firm is seeking a Licensed Electrical Engineer (PE) to join its growing team focused on building systems design. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects, including educational, municipal, healthcare, and commercial facilities.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in electrical design, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions. This position is open to professionals based in Buffalo, Syracuse, or Binghamton, with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with architectural and engineering teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction administration tasks.
- Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction phases.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York State (or ability to obtain).
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design for buildings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with lighting and power calculation tools.
- Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, and other relevant codes.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
