Electrical Project Manager (Commercial Electrical Construction)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to oversee commercial electrical construction projects throughout the Pittsburgh region. The successful candidate will manage projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Projects may include office buildings, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, retail developments, and other commercial construction projects ranging from $500K to $20M+.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple commercial electrical construction projects simultaneously.
  • Prepare project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and manpower plans.
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and change orders.
  • Coordinate with owners, general contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and maintain ongoing client communication.
  • Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
  • Monitor project costs and ensure profitability targets are achieved.
  • Work closely with field superintendents and foremen to manage labor productivity and project execution.
  • Identify and resolve project risks, delays, and technical issues.
  • Prepare monthly project status reports and cost projections.
  • Negotiate change orders and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and final billing.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience managing commercial electrical construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and NEC requirements.
  • Experience managing projects valued between $1M and $20M+.
  • Knowledge of project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with project management platforms such as Procore, Viewpoint, Accubid, or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Strong financial management and cost-control experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Pittsburgh area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Electrical trade background, Journeyman Electrician experience, or apprenticeship completion.
  • Experience with healthcare, higher education, data center, industrial, or mission-critical projects.
  • PMP certification preferred but not required.

  • Base Salary: $100,000 - $150,000+ DOE
