Summary:
A growing employee owned environmental consulting firm is seeking an experienced Environmental Professional with 8+ years of experience to manage projects from initiation through completion. This role combines fieldwork and office-based responsibilities and will focus on site assessment, due diligence, and regulatory-driven projects. The position offers strong autonomy and the opportunity to lead projects independently while interfacing with clients and subcontractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage environmental projects from start to finish, including scope, execution, and reporting
  • Conduct and oversee Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM standards
  • Complete Environmental Desktop Reviews, Soil Characterization Assessments, and ACM Surveys
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive technical reports for clients and regulatory agencies
  • Provide oversight and coordination of subcontractors (e.g., drilling, sampling, abatement)
  • Support projects within state regulatory frameworks, including Illinois EPA SRP and LUST programs
  • Balance multiple projects concurrently while maintaining quality and deadlines
  • Perform a mix of field investigations and office-based data analysis/reporting

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting or related field
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or similar
  • Strong experience performing and writing Phase I ESAs (ASTM-compliant)
  • Working knowledge of Illinois EPA SRP and LUST programs
  • Experience managing projects independently and coordinating subcontractors
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred:

  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Licensed Asbestos Building Inspector (IL, IN, or WI)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally for fieldwork
