An established, specialist engineering consultancy is looking to expand its Tailings team across Australia. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly respected technical environment that operates at the forefront of tailings dam engineering globally.
The Opportunity
You will join a dedicated tailings practice working exclusively within the mining sector, supporting major clients on high consequence facilities and complex dam engineering challenges.
This role is suited to experienced engineers who want to remain technically focused, develop into senior technical leadership positions, and work alongside some of the most recognised experts in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, assessment, and review of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) across all consequence categories (extreme, moderate, low)
- Support and progression toward Engineer of Record (EoR) responsibilities via structured development pathways
- Act as a client-facing technical expert across multidisciplinary project teams
- Contribute to Independent Technical Review Boards (ITRB) and forensic investigations where required
- Lead or contribute to proposals, technical reviews, and project delivery
- Mentor and support junior engineers within the team
Requirements
- 10-15+ years of pure tailings dam / TSF experience (non-negotiable)
- Strong background in geotechnical engineering within mining environments
- Experience across design, analysis, construction, and operational phases of tailings facilities
- Proven client-facing experience and ability to contribute to business development and proposals
- Comfortable working within high-consequence dam environments
- Fluent English communication (written and verbal)
