Fleet Director - VP Level

Position Overview:

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Fleet to lead the management of heavy equipment and vehicle assets across multiple civil construction projects in the Dallas area. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing fleet operations, maintenance programs, procurement, compliance, and logistics to ensure optimal performance and cost-efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of fleet assets including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and repair programs for heavy equipment, trucks, and support vehicles.
  • Manage fleet budgets, track costs, and identify opportunities for savings and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanics, shop managers, and logistics personnel.
  • Collaborate with project teams to forecast equipment needs and coordinate mobilization.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, fuel usage, and asset tracking.
  • Evaluate and implement fleet management software and GPS tracking systems.
  • Negotiate with vendors and service providers for parts, equipment, and services.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in fleet management within the civil construction or heavy equipment industry.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and construction equipment.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience with fleet management systems and maintenance tracking software.
  • Understanding of DOT regulations, emissions standards, and safety compliance.
  • Excellent organizational, budgeting, and communication skills.
  • CDL license or ability to obtain is a plus.
