Forensic Engineer
About the Role
FCG Associates is seeking a capable and motivated Forensic Engineer to join its expanding team. This opportunity is particularly suited to individuals who entered the forensic field from a background in construction or structural engineering-perhaps by chance-and have since developed a strong interest and aptitude for investigative work.
The ideal candidate will have spent the past 2-3 years in a technical forensic role, gaining valuable experience but now seeking greater responsibility, influence, and a clear path to leadership. This role offers precisely that.
This is not a position for someone looking to remain in a purely technical or support capacity. FCG Associates is looking for an individual who is still willing to be hands-on in the field, but who is also ready to grow into a regional leadership role. The successful candidate will receive structured training and mentorship, with the goal of becoming the primary point of contact for their region and contributing meaningfully to corporate strategy and operational development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct forensic investigations into structural failures, construction defects, and related incidents
- Prepare detailed technical reports and provide expert analysis
- Collaborate with legal teams, insurers, and clients to deliver clear, defensible findings
- Participate in catastrophe (CAT) response efforts, with potential for additional bonuses based on deployment
- Contribute to the strategic development of the assigned region
- Attend corporate meetings and provide input on operational and regional growth initiatives
Candidate Profile
- 2-5 years of experience in forensic engineering, ideally with exposure to firms such as Rimkus or similar
- Prior hands-on experience in construction, structural, or civil engineering
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Willingness to travel and engage in fieldwork as required
- Ambition to grow into a leadership role while maintaining technical involvement
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary of £125,000
- Full benefits package, bringing total compensation to approximately £140,000
- Performance-based bonuses, particularly for CAT response participation
- Clear pathway to regional leadership and long-term career development
- Opportunities for creative compensation structures for younger or more mobile professionals
