About the Opportunity
A growing Building Automation and HVAC Controls contractor is seeking a General Manager to establish, lead, and expand its presence in the Nashville market.
This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader who wants to build and scale a branch operation, develop a high-performing team, and play a key role in the company's long-term growth strategy. The successful candidate will have significant autonomy to drive business development, operations, hiring, and overall market expansion.
The role is ideal for a senior BAS professional with experience leading teams, developing customer relationships, and managing the full lifecycle of service, retrofit, and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Branch & Business Leadership
- Establish and grow the Nashville operation.
- Develop and execute a strategic plan for market growth.
- Drive revenue, profitability, and customer retention.
- Build a strong local presence within the BAS, HVAC, and Smart Buildings market.
- Act as the face of the business within the region.
Team Development
- Recruit, develop, and mentor project managers, controls technicians, engineers, and sales personnel.
- Foster a high-performance and customer-focused culture.
- Create growth plans and succession strategies for key employees.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability across the organization.
Operations & Project Delivery
- Oversee all BAS service, retrofit, and construction operations.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard.
- Monitor project performance, resource allocation, and customer satisfaction.
- Implement operational improvements and best practices.
Sales & Business Development
- Develop relationships with owners, contractors, consulting engineers, and end users.
- Identify opportunities across healthcare, commercial office, industrial, education, government, and mission-critical facilities.
- Support sales strategy for service agreements, retrofit opportunities, and new construction projects.
- Drive recurring revenue growth through service and maintenance offerings.
Financial Management
- Maintain full P&L responsibility for the branch.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and growth strategies.
- Monitor KPIs related to revenue, margin, backlog, service performance, and customer retention.
- Ensure sustainable and profitable business growth.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience within Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC Controls, or Smart Buildings.
- Proven leadership experience managing operations, sales, service, or project teams.
- Strong understanding of DDC and building automation platforms.
- Experience overseeing project delivery and service operations.
- Track record of business growth and customer relationship management.
- Financial management experience including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L ownership.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
