Geologist Project Manager

A well-established environmental consulting and engineering firm is seeking a Geologist Project Manager to lead site assessment and remediation projects in the Sacramento region. This is a high-impact role ideal for a licensed Professional Geologist (PG) with at least 8 years of experience in environmental site investigation, remediation, and project management.

About the Role

As a Project Manager, you'll oversee environmental projects from planning through execution, working with both public and private sector clients. The firm takes a solutions-focused approach to brownfield redevelopment and complex remediation. You'll join a collaborative team that blends engineering, geology, and regulatory strategy to transform underutilized sites into sustainable assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of environmental site investigation and remediation projects

  • Prepare technical reports, work plans, and regulatory submittals in compliance with DTSC, RWQCB, and other relevant agencies

  • Oversee field work, including soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling; supervise junior staff and subcontractors

  • Perform data analysis and interpret geologic and hydrogeologic conditions

  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and client communication

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to support site redevelopment and risk-based closure strategies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field

  • 8+ years of environmental consulting experience with a focus on site assessment and remediation

  • California Professional Geologist (PG) license in good standing

  • Proven track record in project and client management

  • Strong technical writing and regulatory communication skills

  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations including CERCLA, RCRA, and California cleanup guidance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on brownfield or redevelopment projects

  • Familiarity with emerging contaminants such as PFAS

  • Proficiency with GIS, database tools, and geologic modeling software

  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification (current)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $95,000 - $135,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
